Plastic Surgery and the Incredible Hulk
We saw Iron Man yesterday, (fantastic … perhaps my favorite superhero movie), and there was a preview for the new Incredible Hulk. I don’t know whether it will be any good, but I know that I have no interest in seeing it, and I think it’s because the Hulk looks so ridiculously fake. I can’t care about CGI characters that are supposed to look real, and judging from the following clip from 30 Rock, others can’t either.
The truth is, we can’t use CGI to make people that look real. Hollywood doesn’t get this. And this reminds me of another thing that Hollywood doesn’t get: Plastic surgery doesn’t make people look real either. Technology hasn’t gotten the point where CGI or plastic surgery work right. Maybe 20 years from now things will be different.
