In order to combat the recession, the Obama administration instituted a cash-for clunkers program that destroyed thousand of valuable cars that could have helped poor people get to work. Which is okay, I suppose, since the administration destroyed many of those jobs anyway when it allowed the minimum wage to increase in 2009.
The minimum wage has never actually been intended to help the people at the bottom of the ladder. It’s always been about destroying their job opportunities in order to help people higher on the ladder.
The teen unemployment rate is 24%; in 2000, it was less than 13%.
